Sanctuary Dogs, Cats, Horses, and Sheep
Aki has been at the Rescue Ranch since 2017. Aki arrived from Taiwan, and we soon realized she was very fearful and had never been touched. Over the years she has made the ranch her home and the few times we have had to take her to a vet she became extremely stressed to the point of hurting herself and others. She is fine at the ranch and plays with her pack of 3 other dogs here. She now loves to have cuddle time and her favorite past time is eating.
Abby arrived from China during the pandemic. Abby is very cute, extremely agile, a fence jumper, and is not to keen on small dogs (will attack them) She has two dog friends here she plays with, but they are bigger than her. Abby would make a wonderful agility dog, but just could not be trusted loose with other dogs. We don't know why she is so hateful to small dogs...we have to be very careful with her at the ranch and she has to go and play when no one else is out. This, unfortunately, makes her unsafe to adopt out. Many dogs who come from China have a real fear of collars,, leashes, etc and this is also an issue Abby has. We continue to work with her. To us, she is loving and very cuddly.
Angel arrived from China during the pandemic. He was a special case and had been horribly abused. Many of his facial bones, his jaw, eye sockets, had been broken in the wet markets of China. Angel experienced extreme torture. A meat dog survivor. Angel is a dog who has left most of his trauma in the past. He has two best friends here. Willow and Sam. He loves to hold on to your clothing and be silly. Very cuddly and sweet. He loves other dogs and shares his room with a sweet little dog, Willow. Willow was deeply abused and when we put them together, they really helped each other move forward. Our biggest dream is one day having them adopted together. Angel also fears leashes, collars, etc... you can see why.
Wagsy is from the wet markets in China. He is a meat dog survivor. Wagsy is the sweetest and most gentle dog we have. Unfortunately, he still has so much trauma from his past. Running water terrifies him, leashes, collars, loud voices.... He does okay at the ranch as long as we don't push him into uncomfortable situations. He plays with Carmel and Abby. Wagsy could be adopted to a very experienced behavioralist type person. Someone extremely knowledgeable with fearful dogs. For now, his home is here with us.
Carmel is a sweet dog who came from China's wet markets. Carmel is very affectionate and loves to play with Wagsy and Abby. Carmel has difficulty with leashes and collars as well, making her hard to adopt. Carmel loves to lay in the sun and will dig a hole in the sand to lie in. We think Carmel is around 10 years old now. It may be, that she stays here with us at the Ranch, but we can always hope.
