We have been involved with the rescue, transport, and re-homing of small breed dogs from California since 2012. Approximately 700,000 dogs are euthanized each year in the States alone. The dogs who enter these shelters have virtually no chance of being adopted and very little time to survive in a shelter - sometimes only a couple of days.
Throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland the main problem is the lack of small dogs in our shelters and with many people looking for small breeds or needing a small dog due to restrictions with strata's and building rules, they struggle to find dogs locally. California shelters are full of dogs, both big and small, and have some of the worst kill shelters in all of North America.
Our focus is on the prevention of unwanted dogs. That being said, one of main focuses is on the spay and neuter of each of our dogs before adoption.
We transport dogs from very over-populated high-kill shelters in California, or other shelters where needed, to less populated areas, giving these innocent lives a second chance at life - a second chance they very much deserve.
We are very involved with other rescue organizations and work closely together to save the lives of dogs where needed. We welcome correspondence with anyone who has the same passion for animals as we do.
We work hard to educate the public and the next generation of pet owners about the deplorable lack of care too many pets are still receiving at the hands of irresponsible pet owners and shelters in North America.
As a Registered Canadian Charity, we rely solely on the goodwill and donations from those in our community. We hold a few fundraisers throughout the year that help us pay for transportation and medical costs. If you are interested in making a donation, please do so through the link below.
